We need a cricket section I think ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

To widen the debate away from Village cream teas , how come Wales has failed to produce hardly any top class players for years? How many of the Glamorgan squad ( name change recommended by the way to embrace a Welsh identity  ) are Welsh ?  just asking by the way but hopefully the cricket gurus on this thread can advise. My biggest frustration is despite it being an England and Wales association, the national team is called England !  Thoughts?๐Ÿค”

He's had some age grade caps as well, I can remember seeing his photo with cap on the wall when my kids were in Model school.

...and then look at the pitch as if itโ€™s done you a mischief...yep..been there...

I faced Vasbert Drakes, a West Indian pace bowler in the 80โ€™s, who was playing in the Pembs league as a 19 year old for goodness sake...

Regularly took 9 for 6 or some such.....

Faced him and genuinely thought Iโ€™โ€™d played the text book leave, until the wickie asked me to review how many stumps were left standing,

Yes Vasbert was pretty rapid Wil. I played for Ammanford in early 80's before helmets. We had a charity game against a Glamorgan select who had Winston Davis, the West Indian paceman, opening the bowling. He had agreed to keep it civil until my batting partner - another West Indian Linton Lewis hit him for two sixes off an over. Me batting at 3 suffered a torrid couple of overs against the fastest I have ever faced. Happy days!!!!

As for old Llanelli players I played against Kevin Thomas a few times - good player and nice guy.
good team that was linton and fisher top players, was dai grff the ex night club owner in that side to?
dai' didn'ytplay for ammanford as far as i know, half decent golfer though.
good lad dai decent footballer to, an โ€œeventfulโ€ life heโ€™s led๐Ÿ‘
