COACHING TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT
By Colin Clarke | 17/06/2016 Announcement Carmarthen RFC would like to make the following announcement regarding the coaching staff: Prior to the commencement of the 16/17 season it was decided not to renew Paul Fisher's contract. The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul for his hard work with the team over the last 6 seasons and to wish him well for the future. As a result of this decision, expressions of interest were sought for the vacant position. There were four people who put themselves forward for the vacancy. Interviews were held at the Pavilion, Abergwili on the evening of 6th June. Interviews were conducted by the rugby management and coaching staff and members of the rugby committee were there as observers. Following the interviews a discussion was held by those present and all four candidates were praised for their efforts. It was decided that the position be offered to two of the applicants for the post of Assistant Backs Coaches. Carmarthen RFC would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Thomas Marks and Aled Thomas on their successful selection and welcome them both to the Club. Brief resume of both coaches: Thomas Marks: Carmarthen born and bred, Tom played for Carmarthen Quins Juniors and Youth before setting off on a professional level in England and France and has been preparing to coach whilst playing from the age of 25. Tom has worked in the RFU academy system and currently works as a Rugby Officer at Bro Dinefwr School and he has a great deal of experience in developing talent. Aled Thomas: Carmarthen born and bred, Aled played for Carmarthen Quins Juniors before joining the Scarlets Academy. Aled went on to play professionally with the Scarlets, Newport Gwent Dragons and London Welsh and is still a contracted player at the Scarlets. Aled coached the Scarlets U18 attack last year and will bring a wealth of playing experience as he starts his senior coaching career |
