A great win for the RFC today up at Ebbw ! what a difference a few Scarlet players make, especially a quality 9 and lock as I mentioned in my previous post . Onwards and upwards to Llanelli RFC !!! and a climb up the table .

Post world cup the region should release more plAyers to the rfc. However the 6 nations will be upon us shortly tough times for the rfc. They should not be allowed to go the way of neath though

In the play-off against Pooler, Llanelli had a big tough experienced tight-head whose name I now forget. But I thought at the time that he was the sort of player we needed to keep, in order to give a nucleus for our youngsters to form around. Unfortunately we couldn't afford him and he joined Merthyr.

If either Dan Drake or Morgan Jones were made available to the RFC on a regular basis, lock problem solved . |

I would say that signing an experienced 9 and lock is complete pie in the sky, given the wage that they’d want and competition from other clubs. It would appear that the RFC doesn’t have the finances necessary and so, in rugby as in life...you get what you pay for!

What I would say about the RFC performance against the RGC was there is a nucleus of a team that will be competitive and survive the drop . In the backs there is quality in Kallum Evans, Ryan Davies, Aaron Grabham and Ioan Hughes, they also have Iwan Evans outside half/centre to come in from NPC in New Zealand next month . They have experienced stalwarts in Johnny Lewis ,Greg George, Craig Thomas and excellent back rower Nathan Hart 104 appearances and 29 tries . A special mention too young hard working lock Chris Long only 22 and closing in on 100 appearances . It would be brilliant if the RFC could bring in an experienced 9 and a big experienced lock, it would be a huge boost to the Squad for the rest of the season . |

Reesy’s post above is at the core of it.
We do seem to be getting some some Scarlets players needing a game...that’s good...what we don’t seem to grasp/afford is the need for a core of players that have been on the fringes, or actually been at pro level. All Prem teams have 4 or 5 like that, see Quins and Llandovery. They play 25 games a season. Throw in a clutch of development pathway players and there is the recipe for a successful team that fulfils all is obligations, mostly as a development tool. Season is early doors so I hope we can pick up a few wins pre Xmas. |

two of us have been watching the rwc for a few years now. We find it exciting seeing players coming through. Remember foxy, Liam, Ken, jordon, Dan Thomas playing for the rfc. The fun is getting to know the players and following their progress. A win from time to time would be good too.
The last few years have not been so enjoyable. The team would change each match, we struggled to identify players. When there was a player we liked, like Ryan Davies last season, we find he has moved on this season. We are both retired, are season ticket holders with the scarlets. We think £10 a match is not worth it anymore. Looking to to join a local club instead, one we can identify with.

the powers to be don't seem to be bothered about the semi's so it is hardly surprising the same attitude is rubbing off on fans, nobody wants to go and see people getting beaten every week especially when that somebody has a proud history.
