So the RFC loses again. Picked up our first BP against RGC. Firmly at the bottom of the table, with 18 games to go.

Is this a symptom of the RWC and academy, so that we have to draft players in or a wider issue?

How many teams go down this season? I believe there are no relegation/promotion playoffs.

to score a try bonus point and come away with no added losing draw point or win points must be very frustrating. This looks a repeat of last season and how on earth the club can expect hundreds of supporters to join up as VP or Patrons is beyond me. They won’t! We need a stronger RFC squad to at least sustain a mid level position in the league but it comes down to money and investment.

The current squad are all good decent players but you need that core of experienced players to form a spine and these are missing. Hopefully we get some Academy players and fringe Scarlets released but it’s ad hoc and nothing beats a settled unit.

We don’t want the drama of next season with Pooler champing at the bits . Lot of thinking is needed early not in April please 👍

The core squad as not been strong enough with the RFC for years now, they are hugely dependent on Scarlets fringe players .

There are some very disappointing things that do not help Llanelli, season on season is the lack of Age Grade players or those who have been released signed up a into the RFC Squad . Only yesterday RGC had two released Academy players in there Squad Rhodri King and Sam Williams, that's not to mention many the youngsters the the Quins and Drovers who have come through the Scarlets system .

Its so sad to see few local supporters turn up to support Llanelli, RGC had more support at the Parc yesterday, and it is heart breaking to see only 60 odd hardcore supporters sign up to the Vice President or Guardian scheme .

With regards yesterdays game it was an exciting game, the highlight for me was the outstanding RFC try from a 30 yard driving maul, the team needs to be more clinical and probably left three or four tries on the Parc yesterday . The poor exit strategy also hurt the home team, after failing to clear there lines after scoring on a few occasions ,giving a clinical RGC to much leeway .

Some huge decisions also went against the home team with one score in it, there scrum half been taken out a yard from RGC try line, the Referee had arm out for a penalty ,but when RGC turned over possession shortly after went down the other end and scored the match winning score .

the powers to be don't seem to be bothered about the semi's so it is hardly surprising the same attitude is rubbing off on fans, nobody wants to go and see people getting beaten every week especially when that somebody has a proud history.

two of us have been watching the rwc for a few years now. We find it exciting seeing players coming through.  Remember foxy, Liam, Ken,  jordon,  Dan Thomas playing for the rfc. The fun is getting to know the players and following their progress. A win from time to time would be good too.
The last few years have not been so enjoyable. The team would change each match, we struggled to identify players. When there was a player we liked, like Ryan Davies last season, we find he has moved on this season.
We are both retired, are season ticket holders with the scarlets.  We think £10 a match is not worth it anymore. Looking to to join a local club instead, one we can identify with.

Reesy’s post above is at the core of it.

We do seem to be getting some some Scarlets players needing a game...that’s good...what we don’t seem to grasp/afford is the need for a core of players that have been on the fringes, or actually been at pro level. All Prem teams have 4 or 5 like that, see Quins and Llandovery. They play 25 games a season.

Throw in a clutch of development pathway players and there is the recipe for a successful team that fulfils all is obligations, mostly as a development tool.

Season is early doors so I hope we can pick up a few wins pre Xmas.

What I would say about the RFC performance against the RGC was there is a nucleus of a team that will be competitive and survive the drop .

In the backs there is quality in Kallum Evans, Ryan Davies, Aaron Grabham and Ioan Hughes, they also have Iwan Evans outside half/centre to come in from NPC in New Zealand next month . They have experienced stalwarts in Johnny Lewis ,Greg George, Craig Thomas and excellent back rower Nathan Hart 104 appearances and 29 tries . A special mention too young hard working lock Chris Long only 22 and closing in on 100 appearances .

It would be brilliant if the RFC could bring in an experienced 9 and a big experienced lock, it would be a huge boost to the Squad for the rest of the season .

I would say that signing an experienced 9 and lock is complete pie in the sky, given the wage that they’d want and competition from other clubs. It would appear that the RFC doesn’t have the finances necessary and so, in rugby as in life...you get what you pay for!
You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.

If either Dan Drake or Morgan Jones were made available to the RFC on a regular basis, lock problem solved .

In the play-off against Pooler, Llanelli had a big tough experienced tight-head whose name I now forget. But I thought at the time that he was the sort of player we needed to keep, in order to give a nucleus for our youngsters to form around. Unfortunately we couldn't afford him and he joined Merthyr.

A great win for the RFC today up at Ebbw ! what a difference a few Scarlet players make, especially a quality 9 and lock as I mentioned in my previous post .
Onwards and upwards to Llanelli RFC !!! and a climb up the table .
