Did anyone else just watch this docu/film about the rise of New York Cosmos and soccer in North America. IMO, without a doubt, probably one of the greatest films I`ve seen on sport. Brought back so many memories from playing soccer with my mates when we were kids and Shoot magazine was full of the Cosmos, and Pele etc, etc. Bloody brilliant.

Missed it, didn't even know it was on! a good era for footy nostalgia buffs, and also a lesson in how not to set up a league. NYC always seemed like the Man Utd of their league, all money and flash (like the others in hindsight), Tampa Bay Rowdies with the inimitable Rodney Marsh were my side! Quite a few big names went there for a last big pay day, Hudson/Moore/Bowles/Best etc, even the legend Mickey Thomas had a spell, but of course being Mickey he arrived just as the league was collapsing and missed the big bucks:)

Very entertaining, something very cool about the whole thing  -  must admit to knowing nothing about Giorgio Chinaglia - now realise where he got the 'Welsh accent'!

Well worth a watch, some great characters involved.

If you build it, they will come.
