With the retirement of Paul Scholes today there is nobody left playing for United who came from the famous Class of 92. Sad day for us United fans. Cry

I do feel a tinge of sadness as those players are synonimous with the Prem itself, and also a great example of continuity = sustainability....

I honeslty can't ever see any Prem team being able to eumulate that youth policy in the modern game.

Think your right mate, teams like United, Liverpool (pains me to say that), Everton still have a great youth teams (as do many other clubs) but will we ever see 5 or 6 coming through at the same time again?, probably not in my eyes.

However the production line at Carrington is starting to get to the point where United could actually start bringing boys through again like they did in 92, so i live in hope. Boys like Matt James, Will Keane, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Larnell Cole, Paul Pogba, Tom Cleverly and Ravel Morrison all look like they may have what it takes to break into the first team (especially the ones in bold) but i cant see all of them making it like they did in 92.

Speedy and Sal will know more about the youngsters at Anfield.

TBH mate a lot of teams do have the academy profile and no doubt they have the talent within them, but as you say it's just not feasible to push those 5/6 players through in a season any more....there is so much to lose if they slip up and get relegated....

My team (West Ham-don't laugh) are an example of this...they invested in bringing though Rio, Joe Cole, Lampard, Carrick, Defoe etc but when they got relegated in 03 that was their end...the club has never really recovered since, and this season will have to shed whatever talent they did have yet again...

Sad not really, he has a good innings and become a star and a Man Utd Legend.

The Premier league has totally changed since its inception,

As for class of 92, there is only one team that stands out and that was the incredible 92/93 squad of the Scarlets. My first year in Jackland and what a way to start defending the faith surrounded and outnumbered 350 to 1, i was the only turk in the whole place.

Great times.
In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"

Premiership rules state that as Head Coach  your only allowed to spend 90mins with academy players each day.  They are reviewing this at present.
