Injuries in the pack, fly halves off in second half. Close loss against the best SA side.

I think the margins between 2-10 in the league are pretty fine. We can compete! Onwards and upwards

It was a great game. Big heart from the boys no complaints from me.

Rest and rebuild time. Remember it’s a game!

Good to see more cohesion and heart on display than we might usually have seen this season.

Good to see that with even more folk missing than usual, we can still say the above.

Await the Challenge Cup draw and the potential trips.

Just hope the QFs have a bit of variety about them and that the Stormers do fill the 2nd spot in the table. At present, Leinster’s 24th to 46th best fit players are losing 18-22 to Munster and the latter have scored 3 tries.

Quick update it’s 25-22 with a penalty try and yellow card to Scannell the hooker.

Can any medically experienced poster on here explain why on hard tracks in warm weather, there seemed to be so many hamstring issues today, not to mention longer standing similar issues.

Now 30-22 with the conversion to come.

Enjoyed that, my little boy's first game.

Even and entertaining, with a hint of squandered opportunity.

From where I was sat (just east of the centre, north stand), we were perplexed by some referee calls, inc...

-- Multiple crooked Stormers throws - eventually pinged.
-- Bad-looking high tackle around Conbeer's neck, not called for TMO (did anyone see that?).

Stormers' "medic" is a covert agent, she only exists to pass on instructions.

Tonight , was an excellent effort from the boys, and I don't think enough people posting on here have given them enough credit for that.
We all know there are things to work on, a number of which have been discussed, at length on here before.
Defence is obviously one of these, and being clinical in the opponents RED zone, is another.
The South Africans taught us a lesson about being clinical, and taking opportunities when they come.
Two (maybe three ) of their tries were created by individuals taking the ball at pace, with timing and execution perfected.

Having said that , one has to consider the players missing for us, Halfpenny, Mc Nicol, Scott Williams, Wynn Jones, ken Owens, Ryan Elias, Sam Lousi, Blade Thompson. These are experienced internationals and British Lions.
Our front five tonight was relatively inexperienced, but really gave a good account of themselves.
In fact, the intensity with with the whole team played, demonstrates what they are cable of, against top opponents, and this was maintained to the end !

It was wonderful being at Parc tonight and seeing the crowd really vocal, getting behind the team.
It was the best atmosphere , in a long while.
What needs to be done now is for us to replicate more often, as there have been some dismal performances

I have said before that this season, is a learning curve for Dwaine and his team of coaches.
Its still going to take a while before we see the sort of consistency that most of us fans crave

I am not bothered about the top European tournament just now, even thought we may lose out financially.
What's more important, is team building, and developing structures, that will get us to win matches more regularly.
It a tough learning curve at times, but you have to learn by seeing how top sides like Leinster do things.
A simple thing like an exit from a re-start , neds to be improved, and also discipline, particularly when we are under  pressure

My overriding emotion leaving Parc tonight was one of real pride ! Frustration, that we allowed mediocre sides like Connaught and the Dragons to come here, and win...but lets not look backwards , but positively to the future.
Its not going to be easy , with financial cutbacks etc having an increasing impact.
I have seen enough tonight however, that young players, who have never featured before, this season  (like Shaun Evans & Jac Price), can really kick on, and give us greater depth when our established senior players return in sept. Depth is something we (and welsh rugby), is lacking .
I hope the lads have a nice break and come back refreshed, for what will be a major challenge in the new season.

Finally, can I wish all those who contribute to this forum, a nice chilled out summer, away from sporting stress !! LOL!

I stood yer on tanner bank

harder dryer grounds have less give, hammys tend to go when your tired or muscles under fatigue eg later on in game  or early when your not fully warmed up, hatder dryer tracks tend to accelerate that. Stretching is key but fast twitch fibre muscles are always vunerable. I was v quick back in the day hated playing on dry hard grounds 7s were a killer, luckily those days are long behind meWink

Well that cheered me up. For sure we came up short but boy was that a huge step up. Dwayne summed things up very nicely when he said he was proud that we showed the dog to stay in the fight. As he also said their two starting props were World cup winners; our front row were playing for Carmarthen Quins a few years ago!!!!!

Front 5 went really well, Jac Price is going to be a top end player. Well done to Tom Price who has not really had much game time - two turnovers and decent lineout ball. If we can develop a level of consistency in our performances like yesterday we will win more than we lose. Add in the fact that our staring front 5 next season will show at least 4 changes. I think Jac Price's performances this season have propelled him into our best 23 without doubt. Fifita, who is an excellent lineout operator may well feature at 6 as a natural replacement for an aging Shingler who I thought was superb again yesterday.

Our tactics were well thought out - clear to touch and compete at lineout with a set defensive line. One of their tries was very soft and just looked as if Foxy totally misread the play. Our most improved player this season will take some figuring out thats for sure - Costelow, Conbeer, Steff Thomas, Shaun Evans, Javan & Jac Price take your pick - for me Jac Price closely followed by Conbeer.

I think for Dwayne that was exactly what he wanted to see from his weakened team. The tenacity to stay in the fight against a powerful team with everything to play for and play off spots on the line. He will now really know what he has to work with and the areas he needs to strengthen. He is building a strong squad with many young guys making huge strides forward - yes we have problems - Rhys' injuries just keep on coming stopping his momentum - a tour to South Africa is not what he needs. He needs a break and a structured fitness programme during the summer.

Whilst I agree that Price and Conberr have had good seasons the improvement in Sebastian has been off the scale he gave Kitsoff a real hard afternoon yesterday and hasn’t take a backward step all season. His fitness is obviously improved massively and yesterday he was passing the ball like an inside centre. Wales really messed up not using him would have been  a good sub to bring on after Francis. Now we have Dillon Lewis instead
She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

Agree with you about Javan. He is for me a far better option than Lewis. Thought our front row did fantastically well yesterday and both props will be pushing very hard for starting spots next season even when we are fully loaded. A word for young Shaun Evans - what a season he has had. Rugged with an open sides pace he is another who will be challenging hard for a place in the 23. These are great selection problems for Dwayne to have to sort out. I still think our defence needs a lot of work but Franks is doing a fantastic job with our front row resources. With Aaron getting on I would really consider him for a player/coaching role as a lineout specialist.

She spent more time on the pitch in one game than Patch has all season

I thought it was a great game.
It was an excellent performance by the team and there was no disgrace in losing to a very good SA team. I'm optimistic that we're heading in the right direction.
I think the team will get more out of being in the challenge Cup next year - it's just not ready for the top level yet. Nobody benefits from 40pt hammerings.

Correct about the challenge cup Gaffer. It’s probably what we need next season, although I would have loved to have won last night.

We have to realise that we will be a mid table team next season, and with some injury luck we might make the playoffs of the URC or Challenge Cup.

We will have fewer disruptions due to call ups next season and hopefully a more stable team. We are seeing signs of some great attacking rugby, which was sadly lacking under Delaney et al.

The biggest thing for me is for Peel, Hogan, Franks and Nigel AJ to get the attitude of “club first” running through all the personnel.

I think it will be a decent season. Let’s hope for a nice draw in Europe with some good away trips, and hopefully some better KO times!

But, that was actually a great, entertaining, highly competitive game last night. More of that please.

Oh, and it looks like Dai Flan might be off to the Drags, so I wonder what that will mean for our coaching team?
