Liverpool have agreed a deal worth £25m per SEASON with American sportswear manufacturer Warrior Sports, to become the richest deal in the Premier League.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1379466/Liverpools-mammoth-25m-year-Warrior-kit-deal-rewrites-record-books.html Just how much money is there in football compared with rugby? Anyone know how much out of interest we get from Burrda? |

The Liverpool deal is a sweeet deal with New Balance (parent co,) in most ways, but there is the odd down side...
My company has made the Adidas kit for Liverpool FC for the last 4 years...and the Liverpool FC replica shirt business is amongst the crown jewels of the replica market with 825,000 annual sales...Adidas and Liverpool benefitted enormously from Adidas being a huge retailer, and so able to sell the kit through their global outlets and franchise links. New Balance will only have the UK sports retailers as an avenue and I'd expect kit sales to drop notably. The links between Liverpool and New Balance touch a lot more than just being their kit sponsors...the Boston Red Sox have just been sponsored by New Balance too...same owners as Liverpool FC. Anyway the thing I like about New Balance is they have maintained a lot of manufcacture in the US...good on them. As for Burrda sponsorship I'd estimate that their contribtions to the Scarlets will be a net 0.25m gbp. Proper David and Goliath stuff mun.. Edited by Wil Chips - 20 January 2012 at 4:09pm |

The interest on Liverpool FC's debt was 5 times the total turnover of the Scarlets last year.

Will, the Liverpool replica shirt sales are the 4th highest world-wide I'm led to believe.
Any idea on the shirt sales for the Scarlets? |

Don't know how much are actually sold but the replica shirt contracts are about 15-18,000 a year across the age spectrum for us.

And how does that compare with our competitors like Munster, Leinster and the Ospreys?

So the top 5 shirt sales in the UK are twice what we sell?
I think that the trend towards the Ospreys shirts will slide in the coming seasons and we'll replace them in the top 5 due to our 'stars' attracting interest from all over Wales and the type of rugby that we play. It would make a big difference IMO if we could sell 40k shirts per season. |

Yes you are right in respect of the decline in shirt sales for the O's ... They were the highest in 2009/10.
The only way our shirt sales would increase Notably would be with club success... a la Munster. |

Slightly off topic but still to do with money in football did anyone see how much money the ex Liverpool player Didi Hamman lost in 1 bet. A couple of years ago he started betting on cricket, he bought the aussies at £2080 at 340 runs in there innings which meant every run above 340 he won £2080 but for every run less he lost £2080.The Aussies had a bad day and were all out for 237 costing him £268,240 thats some loss for 1 day.
