In Zebre v Edinburgh game earlier an Edinburgh player was shown red for a very similiar incident that Arhip has got away with, all we ask for is consistency! Edited by minded - 23 January 2021 at 4:11pm |

If you watch the replay, Arhip pushes sione away with his elbow too. Not only does he raise it he uses it in a forceful way. Clear red. REF and TMO should alwsys look at replays, whether accudent or foul play, when a head injury like thst happens. REF and TMO should be made to answer aswell as Arhip. All everyone wants is consistency

I think you have it nailed there ie a player is KO ‘d by a forearm blow and it usually leads to a 10 minute analysis of the incident and any mitigation and a decision, but nothing last night!! We need consistency

In saying that halfpenny took a blues player out in air lucky not go get a yellow, ref didnt relook at that either. Strange display by him second half he’s not why we lost though

Thats two games now where we've had players totally sparked out cold from hits to the head and officials have failed to take action. At least the ref against Ulster was going to give a red until he was talked out of it by the TMO. But yesterday they didn't even seem to review it properly. Where were the endless slow mos which would have clearly shown it to be a red?

If it's this, I don't think it's similar at all. . . . |

I'll be honest that looks unlucky to be a red as he wrapped both arms and the player ducked into the tackle which led to his chin hitting defenders chest.

It's so much more difficult to tackle low than people realise. Basically if he goes low there, the player has enough time to see it well enough in advance and skip right past him. If Kalamofoni goes low last night, he risks the chance of copping a knee to the head as it was a straight on tackle. Big players like 8s and locks rarely go low on a straight on tackle because there's a huge risk of looking stupid. Yet many just say 'Go low problem solved'. There are some situations where it's just not possible to tackle low because of the pace of the game. |

The shot on Kal is so obvious as well Arhip cocks his arm l ready charge with it. Its old school rugby league stuff. Absolute nonsense, but its the pro 14, expect nothing less.

If they’re not on duty, is the replacement any better? Take the two ARs, not linesmen 157cb Dan Jones would probably have been much the preferred option. Sadly, Ben Whitehouse doesn’t seem to get too many compliments on here. I’d have taken Dan as the ref rather than Adam. Adam is young and keen . He’s learning and has a fair way to go. Who doesn’t? The TMO, on the other hand, has a greater degree of responsibility handing over him. He has all the tech, unless in Ireland, to see all the necessary angles. Normal speed, slow motion etc., multiple times. To come up with the completely wrong decision, after that, would defy even the little grey cells of Poirot. In the absence of any better qualified laws experts, Ian Davies will retain his TMO role. If the PRO14 really want to advance, they’d be better off giving an open competition to all rugby fans for membership of the PRO14 TMO panel. Say 100 video incidents and a time limited test to see who can be accurate under pressure, time or otherwise. To be really neutral, the clips could be of competitions other than the PRO14. |
