Detroit  Lions place punter Ryan Donahue on IR, sign safety Ricardo Silva to active  roster

After  missing his third straight game, against Green Bay,  Detroit placed  punter Ryan Donahue on the injured reserve list, ending his season. Donahue  injured his right quad before the Lions' game against the Bears, in Chicago.

The  team also signed safety Ricardo Silva to the active roster from the practice  squad. Who took punter Ryan Donahue’s roster spot.

He  could make his NFL debut Sunday  night against Drew Brees and the New  Orleans Saints.

Safety  Brandon Stephens, who spent time with the Lions during training camp this  season, will take Silva's spot on the practice squad.

The Detroit  Lions can add one more player with a roster exception during Ndamukong Suh’s two-game  suspension and it could be another defensive back.

Due  to an right knee injury, the Lions’ Starting safety Louis Delmas will sit out a  few weeks.

While  Starting cornerback Chris Houston didn’t practice Tuesday due to an injured  left knee and backup cornerback

Brandon  McDonald was out with an undisclosed ailment.

But  there is a good new for Detroit  Lions that Running back Kevin Smith says he hopes his right ankle will  be healthy enough for him to play the Saints.
