Strange selection of players to identify ... suggests no link to the Scarlets pathway.

Headline names, perhaps, favoured over pathway products.

I think the point been made his none of the players mentioned  came through our pathway and still made it as top end players after cutting there teeth with Llanelli RFC

Good letter and  I agree that players mentioned did seem out of cinque with the core marketed thrust  of the RFC as a player pathway club, but then we have picked up players like Ben Morgan and Liam , but guess this may reflect the Gareth Jenkins scouting connection.Anyway the letter is overall a very good one as the RFC needs more money independent of the Scarlets board. How these new RFC memberships dovetail into the reduced  RFC admission that Scarlets season ticket holders have enjoyed next season does need clarification Asap   so fans of both Region and the RFC know where they stand.

An important aspect is of course the level of team that the RFC can put out. If we get defeated for half the season again due to  lack of player maturity the fan base momentum will fall away and it is vital that a decent squad takes the field from game one not a team littered with junior club permits.  Interesting times 👍

And all bar Aaron left us to ply their trade in England, some leaving under a cloud.

The best linkage is surely to promote players who came through the system to play largely for the Scarlets, countless examples. Ben, Owen and Sanjay started with the RFC at around the age of 20, none were a product of our system.

I don’t get it, I’m a bit dull mind.

Llanelli RFC has long provided the pathway for players to go on and flourish on the international stage. In recent seasons, late developers like Liam Williams, Aaron Shingler, Owen Williams and Ben Morgan have become accomplished Test match rugby players.

I read it as they develop players through the pathway and pick up late developers.

I am sure that’s the intent . It’s just a little untidy in the wording and it’s as you say with late developers being the icing on the cake

The WRU Board was cut back from 18 to 12 I think.

Anyway, I’ll be behind the entity.

Correct. Numbers have been cut so his post at WRU ends - hence the time.  He will be a volunteer like almost everyone involved over the years

hopefully the region will supply players earlier in the season than they did this year.

Not 100% certain on this but the Welsh Premiership does not start until late September next season and will not clash with the A league in its entirety .
