Ok, I know this is one of our most overdone topics, but how many of you think we will make any big signings at all before next season? By big, I mean someone that has recently, or could play regularly for Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, NZ,Aus, SA.

I have a suspicion we won't, and will continue to develop our youngsters, whilst maybe signing 2-3 "promising" players.

By the way, Dan Braid plaid his first game since injury only last week!

I have a feeling that once agents (not the special types like 007) learn of what players we require , we will have to employ further staff to deal with the inquires.......

If weve got serious money to spend we will sign someone tidy. If were offering around the market average then we may struggle.

My gut feeling is that we will sign 2 high quality players.

We are still an attractive option with great facilities and our fairly good showing in Europe says we are still a player in europe.

The main point is that no one really knows how much money is available to us ...without this info we are totally in the dark

"We should go all out to sign Gareth Cooper:::::What a player"

Only joking. IMO he's bloody awful, judging by the game on Saturday.

I think we'll sign one or two players - no even big names, but players in positions we need strengthening. Again, we'll be looking to bring through youngsters - people like Aaron Shingler, Dale Ford, Nick Cudd and Simon Gardiner from RFC.

We'll let players go - sounds harsh, but we're not blessed with cash. So fringe players out of contract will probably be moving on (Higgitt, DD, Pugh?)

Recruitment will be minimal. Heed Mr. Sergeant's warnings, folks!

HOMER: Hello, my name is Mr. Burns, I believe you have a letter for me.
POSTAL WORKER: Okay, Mr. Burns, what's your first name?
HOMER: I don't know.

Was Pugh on a 1 year contract?

There was some money available in September, when ND said there was nothing worth signing. There's also the new WRU deal, was it £600k more per region? Surely we won't be splashing cash but some 500 to £700k wouldn't be too optimistic.

Paul couldn't stress enough that we can't live beyond our means and that we would only recruit where we had identified a squad weakness - the emphasis is on bringing players through.

Two of our stadium sponsors have gone bust and we've lost a bit of a payday in the LV quarters.

I can see one or two players coming in in positions that we don't have cover for. Nigel wants a kicking full-back or winger - we have one of those in Dale Ford. A lock - Shingler. An out and out number 7 is what we'll be looking for.

The way I see it, squad weaknesses that need to be adressed first affect our starting XV. And Ford and Shingler add nothing there. We've seen what happens to good WP goalkickers when they make the step up, and another young, inexperienced player like Shingler cannot be our response to a glaring weakness at lock. If so you could point at Nic Cudd to play 7. Those 3 could be great players in the near future, but they won't add much needed quality and experience to our starting XV.
