I have seen discussions around the signing of the Leicester 8,however Im failing to find anything aside from speculation. I am unable to find anything confirming the signing.
Can anyone shed any light on this? |

See the Dragons have announced Joe Maksymiw from Connacht. I think Dragons will be the ones to watch next year and Tompkins as well is headed there.
Blues have also announced Cory Hill and Rhys Carre heading there. They'll be more competitive in the forwards next year for sure. I hope the Scarlets announce re-signings and new signings soon. We always seem to take ages to announce things, granted I understand it's a hard time currently. I still think we're a few players short in a few areas. I'd like another scrum half to arrive, I think it was a mistake to allow Jon Evans to leave, another tighthead (Ben Leung as a 5th choice maybe), and a back 3 option. I think Daf Howells hasn't resigned with the Dragons yet he could be useful as a player who can cover wing and fullback, and he can also slot into 10 should we need him. I do wish we had signed Thomas Young. He's 28 and we would have had 4/5 years from him. Kalamafoni is 32, realistically how long will we get from him - 2/3? Although as a short term and then hope McCloud, Morgan and Tuipolotu continue to develop then I can see the advantage. I do have a concern that a number of players are now 30 or 30+. Dragons are also keeping an eye on Will Rowlands, I do hope we are as well considering Rawlins is also now 30.

We do have Dane, Cawdor and Hardy at 9, so I think Jon Evans was heading to be a squad player, his opportunity to own the 9 shirt has been and gone.
In regards to Young, I think we have a backrow to be envied, especially with Cubby to return, Dan Davis, Macleod, plus a few promising youngsters who play 7 coming through, Scarlets would have been a fight for him to establish himself, whereas at Wasps he's already a first team player and well respected. I think the future is bright at PYS we are finally looking to have quality backing up quality. If we can use this time off to get as many over their injuries and fitness issues, I'd say we have a squad that's better and more competitively complete than the league title winning squad. |

Jon Evans wasn't given the opportunity pre COVID. Brad favouring Dane. He was unlucky with really bad injuries but was fit this season and when he showed how good an all round 9 he was. Dane didn't do much when he came on in my opinion and Hardywhilst good if we're playing on the front foot is still developing and lacks in defence.I really do think it's the wrong decision by the Scarlets and I wish Jon all him the best. He still has plenty of quality rugby in him
