It was in the 1st half on 19 minutes when he tackled a Dragons player, released him then went to pick the ball up.

IMO there was no ruck formed as no other player was there when he went to play the ball.

So could someone please explain to me why Dom was penalised for it??

Haydn it was a shit call.  End of. Taclked player is released. Dom is on his feet. Ball is presented backwards by tackled man, but then not held. Dom steps over him and takes the ball before losing his feet. No ruck, tackle situation had finished. Absolute bollox. Same for the high tackle, ref was a homer in first half, someone must have had a word at half time.

Yes, that was NEVER a high tackle!! I've seen far, far worse tackles being let go - but it was the linesman that called it, not the ref.

To be fair to the lineman, the movement of the head of the tackled man was indicative of a high tackle. Truth was he ran into a brick wall and his head and body ran out of sync.

This happened about 5 yards to my right, Mr Hennessy had a Brain F*** moment ..... He penalised what he thought he saw. but must have been blinking at the time ! Wink  Gwyn Morris, the AR on the Hazell Stand side, even looked puzzled !

There was another occasion. in the 2nd half (similar spot to the 1st incident) where Jeds was penalised for coming in from the side, Hennessy was actually looking across the line away from the ruck Confused, & reacted to the crowds cries ! The ball was out  by at least 18" !

Thanks for that Scarletman, I thought that there was some new rule where you can't play the ball after you've tackled a player and no ruck is formed!!

Spot on Sir.
