Where will the money saved from Vern, Easters, DD and Higgett finishing go then?

Even if we assume these were on basic contracts of 80K each there is 320K available for 2 new recruits - and I can assure you Easters is on a tidy wage with us!

We HAVE got money available, and ND has clearly stated that we are looking at 2 players MINIMUM. Its not like Huw Evans' statements last season, he has been quite specific in what is going on.
You know how to tell if a teacher is hung over? 'Movie Day'!

As we're not getting the crowds through the gate we anticipated then I guess the savings will be diverted to running costs.  Just about every rugby club you look at is facing a similar problem right now. Leicester are one of the few clubs whose takings have are increased significantly this season.

Exactly. There's money, although probably not as much as we'd like. HEC place for next season being still in the air won't help us with some players, and others seem to be well over the top in their demands, according to ND. Recruitment seems a difficult process when you're not blindly jumping at the first player available, and as long as they aren't waiting for a bargain that won't happen, I'm fine with their approach.

Honestly, I'd rather save the money than bringing players like Scott Morgan or Flanagan.

I'd like to see more activity in the market - at least a suggestion that we're in there looking at players, even if we can't afford them. Being completely off the radar implies that we're in no shape to sign anybody at all - and even if that is the case, it's not a good impression to give to anybody -potential signings, fans, sponsors whoever. At least let us be in there to muddy the waters and maybe push the price of a few players up and cause some more consternation down the Blues and the Os.

I think the opposite..for years we have rumour about signing players and general inuendo that had no factual basis whatsoever...this resulted in everyone getting depressed and loosing faith in the management...This was all built on hearsay...This year Nigel has publically stated that we will be signing 2 big names...that importanatly will fit into our squad.....but to have no 'leaks' tells me the upper management are running the show as a true professional outfit.....Yes its going to be difficult as its world cup year and to be fair its only march ....theres a long way to go in this season before people decide what to do with their futures...So hearing nothing on the grapevine , doesnt mean its all over.....

Take your point SM.  It's just that the other day I was talking to a (quite influential) bloke from a Guinness Prem club about one of their guys whose contract was up. I said he was the sort of player we could do with. He replied (without any malice) 'Oh no, he'll be looking for a top club!'  Now he didn't mean a Munster or a Leinster or a Leicester. He meant a middleofthetable GP outfit. I was just a little bemused that we are not thought of in those circles anymore.

We are also recieving double what we got from the WRU last season, it is something like £1.5m per season now. Not sure how much of this would be spent on new signings Shocked

The 2 positions we wanted filling, but probably not the players we wanted to do it with.

But why would we sing them? Nige has said it's all about value for money and improving what we already have. I don't think RST nor Scott M tick both conditions. RST at a push, but we'd have to ditch Pugh, and that would cost money.

Lock him in a box for 26 weeks and, hey presto, we can sack him.

The Guinness premiership is as overated as an Osprey Bubblebath, those looney tunes in England think the league is the biz, its a bish bash load of rubbish, i would rather watch the Wacky races with catch the pidgeo and Mutley ( johnson's baby oil ) muttering.
In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"
